| 2002-12-18 | Kermix | For those who aren't familiar with Nickel Nickel, it's a nickel arcade with a cover charge. It's a great idea and well worth it when the arcade has a good selection to choose from. There's quite a few more games than the ones listed here, and many of the older games are in free-play cabinets, but almost all of the ones I played were defective in some way, which was very disappointing. Top Skater wouldn't take credits at all; Arch Rivals (free) had a faulty joystick; one of the Marvel Vs Capcom machines had a P1 joystick that was a little difficult to use; and the Addams Family pinball was VERY loose, and the right flippers don't stay up if pressed and held. Great idea, but it could use a little more work on the execution. I'd love to go back if I could be sure that things were in better shape, even if it cost a little more to get in. I get the impression that the Bemani games take precedence over the entire rest of the arcade, and it's probably true, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the games should be allowed to suffer. |
