2009-03-27 | Kev | Mega Play is a ten-hour drive (one way) from my home, but I decided to visit it this week over my Spring Break. I was greatly disappointed to find that MANY of the games listed here are no longer at Mega Play.
As of 3/26/09, I can only report seeing Jr. Pac-Man, Wonderboy, Paper Boy, 1943, Track & Field, Galaga 3, Return of the Jedi, Tron, Karate Champ, Centipede, and Spider Man from the list above. Strangely, though, many of the missing titles appear as placards on the wall as if to say, "Hey, we had these at one point."
It's a pretty impressive room -- I was excited to see Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat 1-4, and NBA Jam there -- but I thought I'd warn anybody else crazy enough to drive across the country thinking Mega Play had the most conclusive arcade collection around. |
2008-10-28 | Jim | Track and Field game buttons don't work. Don't waste any money on this game. First race and GAME OVER. |
2008-06-02 | Keith K Smith (Ultimate Pac-Champion) | Visited on 4/20, I believe (Sunday afternoon). Super Pac-Man machine was not seen, just the marquee above on the wall. Others all seemed to be there...surprised to see Wonder Boy. Played WB-3 up in Fairbanks, Alaska at the Arctic Bowl in 1990. |
2007-04-04 | Dean | This has to be one of the best, if not the best, arcades in this country. I heard about the place from this web site and traveled 3 hours to check it out and have to say I was totally blown away by the selection of all these rare games in one location. Mega Play's best game may be Sega's Spider-Man, which has not only been rare since the day it came out but is also a rare rom, is in great shape and all 4 joysticks and coin slots work. Their X-Men game is in good working order and is in an original 6 player cabinet which is also rare. Other games worth mentioning are MK1-4, Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter 2, and T2 Judgment Day. Many more great games inbeween. |
2005-12-29 | Pass the Dutchie | This establishment has recently been blessed with Tron and currently only charges one token (25 cents) per play. Ms. Pac Man is 50 cents, which is annoying, but hot girls make up for it. The Vietnamese restaurant next door makes for a Vietnamese ending to a uniquely Vietnamese arcade experience. |
2005-12-28 | Troy | This place is pretty great now. All of the games are fully functional and their controls feel good as new. Its nice to see an arcade that is actively improving and focusing on acquiring more and more classics. Its also in Indiana. There's a Wendy's nearby. |
2005-04-27 | Ace | better check it out now. With 2 DDR Extremes and All classics up and running, driving games galore, very clean. a must see now. |
2004-09-06 | Troy | Most classic games aren't kept up well and have some irritating defect, but Rolling Thunder, Kangaroo, and Super Off-Road work (and smell) great. Dragon Quiz game is in terrible condition: avoid at all costs. Megaplay has a huge collection of classic framed marquees on display, including Zwackery, but no Zwackery machine. What a tease. |
2002-09-02 | Tony P | Cool place! Very large, well kept, and a good selection of classics in decent shape. Joust 2 here is quite a find and worked perfectly.
Note that Empire Strikes Back, Cyberball, Starblade, and Super Pac were all not working on 09-01-02. |
