| 2009-04-18 | VALKURY | I've been a hard core Taco Via aficionado since I was a child. At one time they had at least 6 or 7 locations that I knew of.The one located at 95th & Antioch had it's beginnings at 75th & Metcalf. That store was bought out and razed to the ground to make way for the new grocery store and KFC there now in the early 90's. That must be the same time frame that the franchise changed hands, because a new Taco Via was opened across the street from that site. But the menu had changed drastically! The meat had changed in flavor and texture, burritos and sanchos were half the size, and really strange, new items were added on to the menu. Every other Taco Via I visited after wards had suffered the same fate. Then I found the 95th St restaurant, and there were the old crew from 75th ST! And the food was the same as I remembered from the old store. It's the last one in existence that I know of. I agree with others that the sauce is wonderful! And their onion sauce that they use on the burritos and enchiladas is fantastic. I, too, wish that they would sell both of these items. |

Yes, the people working there can be a little aloof, but I wouldn't consider them rude. One of the ladies that works there has been working for Taco Via for over 20 years. I wish I had the sauce recipe. |

What I mean is, I grew up near the one in Missouri that was ran by the founders wife, so I know how the meat is supposed to taste.
The Missouri stores all closed and the Kansas stores all changed the meat recipe loosing that original great Via flavor people love.
The 95&Antioch location was the only one that still had that taste.
Unfortunately about 4 months ago I went there for lunch and discovered they/you also had sold out to the cheaper (Williams taco seasoning) flavor like all the rest.
I hoped it was just a temp thing so I went back a week ago and it was still the same crap.
This is really a bummer for me knowing I'll never enjoy that classic flavor again.
At least they/you didn't change the sauce (yet).
