2006-08-03 | Cindy | The last time I went to Salem Willows was in 1988. My daughter was one year old and we took her there for ice cream and for her to ride the "flying horses". Boy, did she have fun. Back in 88, it looked very outdated, but fun, retro-style. From looking at the picture on-line, it doesn't look like much has changed! My family are Bostonians, but I am a native California, with fond memories of MASS. Anyway, I got to this site by typing in "chop suey sandwiches". Salem is the only place on Earth that serves them! |
2006-03-31 | Born in the 60s | Too bad the midway & rides have never been replaced. They used to have a full-blown amusement park at the Northshore Shopping Center, too! The theater there used to have ONE cinema, that's where I saw STAR WARS!! God, I'm old!! |
2003-05-24 | Zachary Carey | Well this arcade is still worth going to. It's just that they've gotten rid of some classic games. They still have some classics left. They don't have Carnival, Galaga '88, Marble Madness, N.A.R.C, Raiden, or Victory Road anymore. They still have Arkanoid(it's actually a Tournament Arkanoid), Asteroids, Galaxian, "Ironman" Ivan Stewart's Super Off Road, Ms. Pac-Man, Rampart, Sea Wolf, Space Invaders, Tapper, and Tetris. They also have Pac-Man, Centipede, The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Turbo Out Run, Capcom Bowling, After Burner, Super Sprint, Galaga, and Operation Wolf. The only other problem is that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has graffitti on it. This place also used to have Gimme A Break, Sente Mini Golf, Mercs, Jr. Pac-Man, Millipede, and Wheel of Fortune. There are better arcades out there though. |
2003-05-17 | a | so this arcade isnt good anymore, or did they just replace all those old games with newer ones. is it worth the hour drive |
2003-04-30 | Zachary Carey | Salem Willows also doesn't have Wheel of Fortune anymore. |
2003-04-28 | Zachary Carey | As of April 2003, this place no longer has Carnival, Millipede, Galaga '88, NARC, Marble Madness, Victory Road, Mercs, Jr. Pac-Man, Gimme A Break, Sente Mini Golf, Arkanoid, or Raiden. They also have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Simpsons, Centipede, Super Sprint, Pac-Man, Turbo Out Run, Capcom Bowling, After Burner, Operation Wolf, Tournament Arkanoid, and Galaga. Ms. Pac Man wasn't working. Galaga was out of order. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had graffitti on it. They haven't added any classic games here. This used to be a great arcade but not anymore. |
2002-09-14 | Zachary Carey | This place is excellent. This arcade is worth a look if you love old arcade games. I also noticed some classic games that should be added the current list on this site. Those games are Gimme A Break, After Burner, Sente Mini Golf, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Simpsons, Super Sprint, Centipede, Millipede, Galaga, Pac Man, Jr. Pac Man, Capcom Bowling, and Operation Wolf. There were also two games that are no longer there. Those games are Marble Madness and NARC. |
2002-08-14 | Tom Bruno | And the best part about Salem Willows? Two words:
SKEE-BALL!
|
2002-04-29 | Matthew | Hi. I go to the Salem Willows with my girlfriend just about every weekend. The place is AWESOME. It's one of the only places I've found in MA with a large number of classic games as well as newer ones all mixed together. There's also pinball and air hockey. The whole Willows area (right on the ocean) is really cool to visit - especially on weekend nights. |
2002-04-18 | Its Me | The boxing game they have is the best game. Sometimes when I'm too lazy to go to the gym, I just go over there and get my workout by boxing. It's a great game that actually requires you to move and punch...not just push buttons. Also the football game(the one with the actual footballs not the arcades) are great and I usually play 2 player games with my friends. |
